George E. "Whitey" White, age 80 of Niagara Falls NY, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 4, 2012, in the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Whitey was born April 29, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late George S. and Hilda S. White. He was a 1948 graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and served for a short time in the New York National Guard. From 1949 to 1962 he was employed as a Yardman for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Whitey then went to work as a driver for Kuhn Moving and Storage (Allied Van Lines) in Niagara Falls, until he retired in 1995. Whitey was an avid NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and Buffalo Sabres fan. He enjoyed horseracing, his pets, reading and doing crossword puzzles. In 1994 he was predeceased by his loving companion, Dollie Rose. He is survived by his children, Michael (Debbie) White, Dennis (Kathy) White, John Joseph White all of Youngstown, Laurie Ann (Cory) Dye of Daytona, FL, and Jennette (Michael) Cimino of Niagara Falls, NY; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 8, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
