David C. Lass, age 86 of Lewiston, died Friday January 13, 2012 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. David was born December 7, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Edward F. and Edna (Boeldt) Lass. He was a 1943 graduate of Trott Vocational High School and in 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. David served until his honorable discharge with the rank of T/4 in 1946. He took part in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns and was the recipient of the American Theater Service Medal, the EAME Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. David married Virginia (Lombardi) Lass on November 13, 1945. He was a Tool and Die Maker, employed by Prestolite Battery Co. in Niagara Falls, for 10 years, retiring in 1990. Previous to that, David was employed by Moore Business Forms and for 25 years was employed by Olin Mathieson Chemical Co. David was a member and past commander of American Legion Lewiston Post #1083; an active member of the Lewiston Fire Co. #1 for 15 years and an Exempt Member where he served as Treasurer; a 20 plus year member of the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lewiston Lodge #584; and was also a former Town of Lewiston Constable. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his loving daughters, Heidi (Wayne) Seguin of Lewiston, Bonnie (William) Wojno of Silver Lake, OH, and Laurie (Richard) Sanborn of Medway, MA; his adored grandchildren; Daniel, Kaitlin, and Julianne Wojno, David (Nicole), Brian (Dawn), and Wayne Eric (Cindy) Seguin; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Wilma) Lass of Bergholtz, NY and Paul (Doris) Lass of Norfolk, VA; a sister, Norine (William) Taylor of Lewiston; sisters in law, Mildred Terrameo and Mary Hibbard; brothers in law James and Felix Lombardi and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Irma Gravelle; sisters in law Adelaide Baker, Ida Lewis, and Santina James; and brother in law, the Honorable Sebastian "Buster" Lombardi. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERALHOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 17, at 10:00 AM in The Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Paula Gravelle officiating. (Please assemble at Church) Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined.
