Obituary of Miles Perry Drinkwalter

M. Perry Drinkwalter, 89, of the Town of Cambria, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Born in Ransomville, NY, November 2, 1919 to the late Victor and Mildred (Perry) Drinkwalter. He was a graduate from the former Youngstown High School in 1938. Perry enlisted in the US Army where he served as a combat soldier in the European Theatre from 1944-1946. He received the European African, Middle Easter Service Medal, the Good Conduct and the WWII Victory Medals. Perry worked in the Maintenance Dept. of Niagara Mohawk for 32 years, retiring in January of 1982. He was a member of the American Legion O. Leo Curtiss Post # 830, Ransomville, the Ransomville Lodge # 551 F and AM for over 50 years as well as the U.C.C. of Engineers, and was a Exempt Member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co. On July 30, 1938 he married June M. Sanborn Drinkwalter and have celebrated 61 years together. He is also survived by four children, Penny Drinkwalter, Paul (Deborah) Drinkwalter, both of the Town of Cambria, Dennis (Dorothy) Drinkwalter of Kingsland, GA and Kenneth (Carolyn) Drinkwalter of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Norma. (Terrance) Major of Wiley, TX; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jerry and Ronald Drinkwalter; and two sisters, Marjorie Austin and Lois Clark. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (September 9th) at 11:00 AM from the Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Delp officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria.
