Raymond J. Moose (Bud) peacefully passed from this life to be with His Heavenly Father on November 25th 2011 at Our Lady of Peace, Lewiston, NY. Born September 7th 1919 in Ransomville, NY the son of James and Christine (Kloosterman) Moose. He married Frances Elizabeth Schaffert (the love of his life), on April 12th 1943 who predeceased him in February 2001.
Bud was a World War II veteran serving in Europe with the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He then worked at DuPont, Niagara Falls for 40 years retiring from the Purchasing Dept in 1980. He served as a Niagara County Civil Service Commissioner for many years. He also served as Chairman of the Niagara County Republican Committee, President of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the American Legion, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and served on the Ransomville Library Board for 15 years. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville, and a member if its' Holy Name Society. He was instrumental in the building of the new church addition. Bud loved golf, bowling, the horse races, the Detroit Tigers, and an occasional trip to the casino.
He was the loving father of Judy (Howard) Myers of Wilson, Jane (Doug) Harder of Chapin, SC, Joanne (Stan) Jablonski of Lewiston, and the late James Moose (Diane) of Woburn, MA. Grandfather of Amy Medwin, Brian Myers, Tony Kindness, Tonia Magliaro, Jason Jablonski, Kylee Ryan, Jill Birmingham, Alissa Moose and Christi Harder. Great-Grandfather of Hannah Medwin, Max Medwin, Ethan Magliaro, Oliver Magliaro, Sophia Magliaro, Tyler Birmingham, Charlotte Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Henrietta Moose, Jennie Dunup, and Josephine Brown.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday from 2- 4 and 7 - 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 30, at 10am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Road, (Rte.429) Ransomville with the Rev. Joseph Badding officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, N.Y. 14094.
