Carl W. Cloy, age 92 of Ransomville, died Wednesday September 2, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness.
Carl was born September 13, 1916 in the Town of Lewiston, the son of the late Henry F. and Marie (Koepke) Cloy. His parents established their family farm in Lewiston in 1917 and Carl took over the farm and ran it until he retired from active farming in 1998. He took peaches to the Tonawanda market for many years and never took a vacation. While running the farm, Carl was also an Insurance Agent for Frontier Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company and United Frontier Mutual Insurance Company from 1951 to 1991.
Carl was a member and longtime Trustee of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge. He was a former Chairman of The Congregation and Church Council. Carl was also a member of the Niagara County Cooperative Extension and Farm Bureau as well.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces, David W. (Joyce) Cloy and Constance (Allen) Schultz both of Ransomville, Denise (Clinton) Hoerner of San Marcos, TX, Ronald (Kathy) Schulz of Crystal Lake, IL, and Janice Schulz of Ft. Dodge, IO; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald H. Cloy; a sister, Mildred Schulz; and a nephew, Donald J. (Judy) Cloy of Middleport.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 5, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Alexander Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
