Roberta A. "Robbie" Jones, age 72 of Youngstown died Thursday November 3, 2011 in Niagara Rehabilitation and Health Center in Niagara Falls, after a long illness. Robbie was born October 18, 1939 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence (Hallock) Walsh. She was raised in Syracuse, NY where she attended Catholic Schools. Robbie married the love of her life, Norman L. Jones, Sr. on February 19, 1958 and they moved to Youngstown in 1964. She was employed as a switchboard operator at Stella Niagara and had also worked at Tops. Robbie was a communicant of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown and a former member of the Syracuse Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed mostly her family, friends, bingo, raising birds, "search a word" and scrabble and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Norman L. Jones, Sr; her children, Debbi Monahan (Tom Schulze) of Ransomville, Donna Jones (Tommy Edwards) of Rochester, NY, and Norman L. Jones, Jr. (Debbie Leone) of Lewiston; her grandchildren, David, Ethan, and Pfc. Sarah Monahan, Melissa (Max) Flint-Morgan, Anthony W. Jones, and Rachel; her great grandchildren, Jefferson Monahan and Seneca Maya Flint-Morgan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Schultz and Beverly (Lanny) Rule. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Sunday from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co., Ambulance Fund, PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174.
