Obituary of LeRoy W. Zastrow

LeRoy W. Zastrow, age 82 of the Town of Cambria, died Sunday October 23, 2011 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. LeRoy was born October 24, 1928 in the Town of Cambria, the son of the late Charles and Arlene (Jacobs) Zastrow. He was a lifelong resident of Cambria until his declining health made it necessary for him to reside at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Center in Lockport these past few months. LeRoy was a Heavy Equipment Operator, employed by the Town of Cambria Highway Dept. for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newfane, the Cambria Volunteer Fire Co. and Exempt Member, the Wilson Conservation Club, and the Newfane Senior Citizens with whom he enjoyed traveling. LeRoy married Eleanor "Ellie" M. Tompkins on August 30, 1947. Ellie predeceased him on July 13, 2003. He is survived by his children, Michael W. (Terry) Zastrow, Terry Zastrow, Penny (Ed) Dysard, and Judy (David) St. Onge all of the Town of Cambria; two sisters, Rose Kroening of Pekin and Doris Tudor of Orange Co., NY; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Chester, Robert, and Willard Zastrow. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday, October 25, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
