Helen M. Serba, age 84 of River Rd., Niagara Falls died Tuesday October 11, 2011 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a long illness. Helen was born December 12, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Mack and Dicie (Ray) Tweed. She was raised in Youngstown and was a 1944 graduate of Youngstown High School. During WW II Helen was a switchboard operator at Ft. Niagara She later was a Lab Technician, employed by Bio Diagnostic Lab. In Amherst for 10 years. She is survived by her husband, Chester Serba; her children, Frank Serba of North Tonawanda, Carol Welch of Niagara Falls, Sue Westoven of Lewiston, and Janet Westoven of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Norma Bugyi and Judy Tweed both of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Heim. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral Services and Burial will be held Friday, October 14, at 10:30 AM in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
