Grandpa lived an amazing life with his best friend and wife, Mitzi by his side through it all. As my Grandpa read at my wedding,"love is patient, love is kind, love never fails!" I will never forget those words he read especially because he and my Grandma truly lived by them. You will be greatly missed, Grandpa but I know you are in a better place now. Lt. Cummings was my cousin's first navigator on the B-17. Lt. Harry Eck, pilot.Took his training at Hobbs Air Field, New Mexico where he met his first crew. Stationed in England. 327th Bomb Squadron. 92 Bomb Group. Records indicate Lt. Cummings was replaced just prior to the last fatal mission of Lt. Eck, probably due to attrition. Harry was shot down on September 13, 1944 over Germany. His remains were never discovered until 2006 and then verified by DNA in Hawaii. He was interred August 27, 2012 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis Mn. I was present at the interment.
