Richard Stevens

Richard C. Stevens, age 78 of Lewiston , died Saturday October 8, 2011 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness. Richard was born May 7, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Robert C. and Isabelle (Carlson) Stevens. A lifelong resident of Lewiston, he was a 1951 graduate of the Lewiston Red Brick School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY in 1955. Richard then served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He was an Insurance Agent and Treasurer of Stevens Insurance in Lewiston, retiring in 2006 after 50 years of service. Richard was a charter member of the Loyal Order of Moose #584 Lewiston, a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston, and a member of the Lutheran Church of The Messiah in Lewiston. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by a daughter, Andrea (Stefan) Kraus of Erie, PA; a granddaughter, Samantha Kraus; two brothers, Robert C. Stevens, Jr. and David (Sandra) Stevens both of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Stevens Quirk. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 15, at 11:00 AM in the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to the National Kidney Foundation of WNY, 300 Delaware Ave. Suite 101, Buffalo, NY 14202. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
