Obituary of Alfred M. Sabey

Alfred M. Sabey, age 79 of Ransomville , died Wednesday September 7, 2011 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness and was a resident of Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence for the last 3 years.
Alfred was born March 25, 1932 in Canandaigua, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Furman) Sabey. He married Doris J. (Royer) Sabey on May 1, 1954 and they have resided in Ransomville the last 40 years. Alfred retired in 1987 as a Supervisor from Carborundum Co. in Wheatfield after 37 years of service.
Mr. Sabey was a member of and Deacon at the Colonial Village Presbyterian Church.; a member of the 100 Club of Carborundum; a member and former president of the Niagara Oncology Association; and a member and former officer of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. # 2. Alfred did volunteer work for the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation and was an avid hunter and golfer.
In addition to his wife, Doris, he is survived by a son, Steven Sabey of Lewiston; a daughter, Deonne "Dee" Henning of the Town of Cambria; his , grandchildren, Al Sabey, Stacey and Becky Henning; and his sisters in law, Gitta and Trudy Sabey. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Sabey; two brothers, Ernest and Carl Sabey, and a sister, Ruth Sabey.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 12:30 PM in the Colonial Village Presbyterian Church, 4813 Kline Rd., Niagara Falls, with the Rev. James Henkel officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to the Colonial Village Presbyterian Church, 4813 Kline Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304 or to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. # 2, 1705 Saunders Settlement Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. .Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY.
