Obituary of Lawrence D. Siegrist

Lawrence D. Siegrist, age 77 of Swann Rd. Town of Lewiston, died Friday July 22, 2011 in Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Lawrence was born May 26, 1934 in Pekin, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Ewing) Siegrist. His family moved to Tonganoxie, KS and he graduated from Tonganoxie High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1953 to 1956. Lawrence moved to New York in 1957 and has resided in the Town of Lewiston since 1968. He has been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #463 in Ransomville for 50 years. He retired as a crane operator for various construction companies in 1996. Lawrence was a member of American Legion Post #264 in Tonawanda, the Conrad Kania Detachment USMC, the Henri Lodge #191 F&AM in Tonganoxie, KS, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Buffalo Consistory. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Knab) Siegrist, his children, Joseph (Joan) Siegrist, Kevin Siegrist, Kelly (Robert) Winslow; Deborah (Robert) Baldwin; and Tamsen (Francis) Poore; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Carol) Siegrist; two sisters, Susie Parmer and Karen (John) Sirridge; and several nieces and nephews , Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERALHOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd. Ransomville on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 27, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Julio Ciavaglia officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Renovation Fund, 1023 Swann Rd., PO Box 167, Youngstown, NY 14174. .
