Obituary of John D. Valery

Town of Cambria, John D. Valery, age 77 of the Town of Cambria, died Monday July 11, 2011, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness. John was born July 31, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Eugene D. and Clara A. (Vogel) Valery and attended Trott Vocational High School. He married Donna J. (Sherwood) Valery on May 1, 1954 and they have resided in the Town of Cambria the past 44 years. John was a Tool Room Machinist, employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GM in Lockport for 30 years retiring in 1993. John was an avid golfer and was a former member of Willowbrook Country Club. He was also an Exempt Member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed traveling, having visited every state except Hawaii, and was a skilled fine woodworker and furniture maker. He is survived by his wife, Donna; a daughter, Kerry Valery of Beverly, MA; a grandson, Joseph Evans of Wilson; a sister, Rita (Donald) Wilkinson of Lewiston, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey J. Valery; a daughter, Vicki L. Evans; two granddaughters, Kristina K. and Rebecca R. Evans; two brothers, William F. and Arthur Valery; and two sisters, Marie Calandrelli and Lucille Wylie. , Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 3 - 8 pm and Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm. Funeral Services will follow on Saturday, July 16, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Kathleen Gahagen officiating.
