Obituary of Gerda M. Palmatier

Gerda M. Palmatier, age 82 of the Town of Niagara, died Wednesday August 19, 2009 at her home under the care of Niagara Hospice and her loving family. Gerda was born September 7, 1926 in Grosshart Mansdorf, Kreis Bunzlau/Schlesien, Germany, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Martha (Friedel) Niebisch. She has lived in Niagara County since 1964. From 1977 to 1991, Gerda was a clerk at Dicamillo's Bakery at 80th St. and Pine Ave. in Niagara Falls. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was formerly married to the late Curtis W. Palmatier, Jr. Gerda is survived by two daughters, Ellen Palmatier of the Town of Niagara and Patricia (Leonard) Cassick of Lewiston; a son, Ronald (Karen) Palmatier of Glastonbury, CT; her grandchildren, James Spencer, Clinton Cassick, Brian and Steven Palmatier, Kevin Cramer, Robert (Brooke Beatty) Cramer, Christina Meisner, and Jeanette Palmatier; her great granddaughters, Mercedes Pendola and Alexis Cramer; a great grandson, J.J. Spencer; and two sisters, Friedel Kensy and Gertrude Pohnke both of Germany. She was also predeceased by a brother, Gerhard Niebisch. Friends may call at HARDISON FUENRAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Friday from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 22, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Bender officiating.
