Anne Weir, age 89 of Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at her home under the loving care of her good friends, Hart Interfaith, and Niagara Hospice, after several years of failing health. Ann was born April 22, 1922 in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong, daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Watt) Weir. She and her family moved back to Scotland when she was 16 years old. During WW II and the Blitz of London she served with the Royal Air Force as a plane spotter and radio operator. In 1949 she came to Niagara Falls, NY where she was employed by Nabisco Shredded Wheat until her retirement in 1984. Ann had moved to Lewiston in the late 1950's. She was an avid lover of animals, owning horses and dogs. She was also known for her cooking and baking skills, her generosity, and quick wit. Ann was predeceased by two sisters, Catherine "Kay" Wierzbowski and Helen Rees. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, at 11:00 AM in the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. There will no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.
