David Miller

David E. Miller, age 61 of Lewiston NY, died Thursday May 19, 2011 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. David was born September 9, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Souhocki) Miller and lived most of his life in Youngstown and Lewiston. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from April of 1968 to his honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal in November of 1970. David was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He married Janice L. (Vigue) Miller on July 29, 1972. David was a Millwright, employed by Occidental Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls, NY for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and being at his cabin. Most of all he enjoyed being with is grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janice; his sons, Michael (Lois) Miller of Ransomville and Mark (Dawn) Miller of Youngstown; his grandchildren, Matthew, Makayla, Anthony, Justin, and Ryan Miller; his brothers and sisters, Rick Miller of Niagara Falls, NY, Susan (Alexander) Scrivani of the Town of Wilson, John Miller of Lewiston, Bob Miller of Lockport, Tim Miller of Tonawanda, Bill (Kathy) Miller of Niagara Falls, NY, and Laurie John of Youngstown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Monday, May 23, at 11:00 AM in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, with the Rev. Jane Dasher officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. The family would like to convey a special thanks to all the caregivers at Niagara Hospice.
