Obituary of Jean E. Bucholtz

Jean E. Bucholtz, age 79 of Lewiston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday April 17, 2011 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital Newfane after a brief illness.
Jean was born August 8, 1931in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Theodore and Monica (Metzger) Taylor. She was a 1949 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and in 1965 she graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Jean began her professional career as a Surgical Nurse and Supervisor at the Ransomville General Hospital. She then worked as a Surgical Nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center before becoming Director of Nursing at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Facility in Lockport, a position she held for 10 years. She retired as Director of Nursing in1994 from Mt. St. Mary's Nursing Home. Jean had also overseen the testing of the New York State Certification for Certified Nursing Assistants. Many colleagues in the Medical Profession have been quoted as describing Jean as an "asset to her professional community."
Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newfane where she had served as Treasurer for 12 years as well as serving on various committees over the years. She volunteered as a senior companion for HANCI and was very active in the "49er's" class reunions. Jean enjoyed playing domino's and cards. She loved baking and cooking and was famous for her spaghetti sauce. She especially loved Holiday's with her family.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Bucholtz, in 1997. She is survived by her children, Mark (Virginia) Bucholtz of Youngstown, Cynthia M. (Brian) Carmen of Lockport, Barbara D. Myers (Robert Krantz) of Appleton, NY, and Kimberly A. (John) Howell of Burt, NY; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Albert E. "Ricky" Bucholtz and a brother, Charles (late Beverly)Taylor.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Newfane, with the Rev. Patricia Ludwig officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Newfane, 6047 East Ave., Newfane, NY 14108.
