Charles Gallo, age 85 of Ransomville NY, died Sunday April 3, 2011 in Mt St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a long illness.
Charles was born April 6, 1925 in Temple, PA, the son of the late Dominic and Josephene (Buda) Gallo. He married Blanche A. Millard on February 13, 1945 in Elkton, MD and in May he entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Supply Clerk with the 616th Quartermaster Depot Co. in Germany. Charles was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged as a PFC in October of 1946. From 1952 to 1972 Charles worked at Kimberly Clark in Niagara Falls and lived on Beebe Rd. in The Town of Wilson. In 1972 he moved to Blandon, PA to work as an Inspector at Kawecki-Berylco Co. in Temple, PA until his retirement in 1987. He returned to Ransomville in 2008. Charles loved to build houses, clocks and furniture and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved taking care of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche A. Gallo; his children, Marvin (Dian) Gallo of San Antonio, TX, Rose (Wayne) Peters of Ransomville, Diane Zastrow (John Locurcio) of Kenmore, NY, Jeffrey Gallo (Bernette Mihalow) of Florence, NJ, and Charles (Penny) Gallo, Jr. of Pualalin, OR; a sister, Rose Perrotti of Temple, PA; a brother in law, Stewart (Dorice) Millard of Davie, FL; and 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, James, Joseph, Anthony, and Roger Gallo.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 7, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with the Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049.
