Obituary of Robert R. Fultz

Robert R. Fultz, age 81 of Youngstown, died Monday March 28, 2011 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a short illness.
Robert was born February 23, 1930 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Opha and Margaret (Prince) Fultz. He was a 1950 graduate of Trott Vocational High School and in 1951 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve his country in the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1953 he went to work for the NY Telephone Company as a cable splicer and worked there for 37 years retiring in 1990. On September 14, 1957 he married Diana D. (Pletcher) Fultz. Diana predeceased him on April 27,1989.
Robert was a communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville. He was an active member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. for 40 years. He was an Exempt Member, a member of the Fire Police, and held various offices within the Fire Company. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #1083 in Lewiston for 20 years; a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a member of the Niagara Falls YMCA for over 60 years. He volunteered with the Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to homes for over 10 years. Robert played volleyball and basketball in the Factory Leagues in Niagara Falls.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Fultz (Susan Butenschoen) of Amherst, NY, James (Noelle) Fultz of Lewiston, and Alan (Ruth Ann) Fultz of Warsaw, NY; his grandchildren, Rebecca and Andrew Fultz; a brother, Edward (late Cecilia) Fultz of Niagara Falls, NY; his longtime companion, Joan Gipp; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm and Thursday from 4 - 8 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Rd. (Rte 429) Ransomville, with the Rev. Joseph Badding officiating. (Please assemble at Church).Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston.
