Obituary of Leonardo Zicari

Leonardo Zicari entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Niagara Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was 98. Born on January 8, 1926, in Realmonte, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy, he was the son of Pasquale and Maria (nee Fiannaca) Zicari. He married the former Carmelina Piazza on March 11, 1950, in Italy. Mr. and Mrs. Zicari immigrated to the US in 1961 and made their home in Rochester, NY. Mr. Zicari worked for Ragu Foods in Rochester, NY, retiring in 1991. Following retirement, they spent their winters in Scottsdale, AZ, for 26 years, where together, they enjoyed spending time with family. They moved to Ransomville in 2008. Leonardo's favorite pastime was gardening and working in the yard. He enjoyed being in the kitchen, baking and cooking. He was a kind soul who never spoke an ill word against anyone, always finding the good in people. Spending time with his grandchildren would brighten his day. Besides his parents, Leonardo was predeceased by his four sisters and son-in-law Felice Sorrentino. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Carmelina; loving daughter Maria Sorrentino; cherished granddaughters, Tania (Nicholas) Rosenberg and Deanna (Jason) Blanchet; adored great-grandchildren, Camille, Jonathan, Elliott, and Preston; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as family in Italy. Arrangements are entrusted to Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 1, 2024 from St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY at 11 AM.. Friends are asked to please assemble at the church.
