Obituary of Calvin Hockenberry

Calvin Hockenberry, age 80 of Model City, died Tuesday March 8, 2011 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
Calvin was born August 11, 1930 in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Dorse and Margaret (Harris) Hockenberry and attended local schools in Altoona. He married Jane (Daggett) Hockenberry on August 23, 1950 and they have resided in Model City since 1952. Calvin retired from Hooker Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls as a Millwright/Chemical Operator in 1986 after 33 years of service. Following his retirement from Hooker, Calvin worked for a time at Modern Disposal and at Lewiston Porter High School. While at the high school, he became a personal aide for Kevin Casper whom he assisted throughout high school until his graduation.
He loved fishing and watching any sport. Calvin was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan, but most of all he was his grandchildren's biggest fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Calvin (Donna) Hockenberry, Jr., David F. Hockenberry (Rene` DePlanche`) , and Linda L. Brosius (Ron); his grandchildren, Andrew, Shane (Julie), Amy, Tracy (Mike), Eric (Teresa), Vincent (Alison), David (Katie), Jacob, Dillon, and Melanie (Kevin); 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Eileen) Hockenberry of Scio, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kristopher Innis Hockenberry; three brothers, John, Lester, and David Hockenberry; and two sisters, Frances Scizek and Jane Langguth.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Contributions in Calvin's memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts. Lewiston.
