Barbara Merrick

Barbara J. Merrick, age 55, of Ransomville, entered into rest Friday March 4, 2011 at the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane. Barbara was born April 12, 1955 in Lockport, the cherished daughter of Geraldine (Balcom) Bisher of Newfane. Barbara worked locally at Pfeiffer Foods, Dorwood Park Store, and Ransomville Speedway throughout her life. She was known by many for her vivacious attitude and love of life. Barbara enjoyed nature, gardening, crocheting, her dogs, sitting on her porch and visiting with her neighbors. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished spending time with her grandsons, for they were her pride and joy. She was the devoted wife of Donald "Rusty" Merrick with whom she would have shared 37 years of marriage on April 27. Barbara is the loving mother of Michelle (Ted) Adams and Brian Merrick, both of Lockport; the beloved grandmother of Griffin Adams and Hamza Merrick; the dear sister of John Balcom and Gary (Brenda) Balcom of Newfane, and the late Carol (Daniel) Clapsaddle. Also survived by several brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 9, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Flowers are gratefully declined.
