I was very sorry to hear of Bertha's passing. Although I didn't know her personally, my mother, Fern (Cook) Lynn, did. My mother had several letters and cards from Bertha keeping her family history up-to-date for my mother's Ortt genealogy. Having just lost my mother, I know how difficult this time can be. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I met Bertha when I was a teenager, and we worked together at the Seafood Bar in Olcott. Bertha took me under her wing and made me dinner every night before we went home at 5:00 AM. She had a tremendous sense of humor to match her very clever, very sharp wit. I can tell you for certain that I would never have been able to work until dawn if she wasn't there to provide motivation and support. She taught me a lot about endurance, and how to make the best of a busy situation. I'm so glad I knew her.
