Obituary of Mary S. Mitchell

Mary S. Mitchell, age 93 of Lewiston, died Thursday July 30, 2009 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born February 29, 1916 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Kelly) Shuley. She was a 1934 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Mrs. Mitchell married Aloysius Mitchell on March 1, 1947 and they moved to Lewiston in 1951. She was a Secretary, employed by Hooker Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls for 20 years in the 1950's and 1960's. Mary was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston; a member of St. Francis Guild at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital where she volunteered in the Gift Shop; and a member of the Oxy Chemical Retirees Association. She is survived by her husband, Aloysius; her nieces and nephews, Dennis R. (Pamela) Karski of Youngstown, Judith (Keith) Robinson of Newark, DE, and Norman (Denise) Orzel of Wilson. Mary was predeceased by a sister, Lilly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 3, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. Leonard Biniszkiewicz officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Angels Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
