Billy Frank Williamson 4/14/1933 – 5/22/2024 Billy Williamson was called home to Heaven Wednesday evening at Mount St Mary’s hospital. His wife Peggy and grandson Matt kept him company as he peacefully walked with Jesus. He was born in Quincy, Illinois to Velma and Frank Williamson and grew up in the heartland of America including Bowen Illinois. He married in Bowen Ill and had 3 precious daughters. Billy joined the US Marine Corps in 1951, and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict where he received The Korean Service Medal, the UN service Medal, and National Defense Service Ribbon. Following his discharge from the Marines, he took on various construction roles leading him to Niagara Falls NY., where he found and married his soulmate, and adopted her son as his own. He retired in 1998, living in Ransomville NY, with his wife Peggy, and was active in the community. They spent several years travelling in their 5th wheel camper, visiting many states and spending many weeks in Ohio, and Texas, especially enjoying their visits in Prescott Arizona. He loved playing horseshoes at Johnstons on Wednesday Nights and having breakfast in town with the local farmers. He’d enjoy discussing coin collecting with his grandson Matt, military history with his grandson Jeremy, racing at Ransomville Speedway with his grandson Jesse, and tending to his granddaughter Emily with toasted cheese sandwiches and crackers & milk. He took great pride in his lawn and would make sure he was out on the mower whenever he could. He loved gardening, and when it became difficult for him to maintain himself, his friend Rick would come by to help him. His impact on his friends and family is immeasurable, and he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Peggy, Daughters Robin Runals (Andrew), Lisa Johnston (Randy) and his son Robert Williamson (Sally) and is predeceased by his daughter Jill Williamson. He had 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
