Obituary of David H. "Weedpatch" Walker

David H. Walker, affectionately known as "Weedpatch" and "Weed", age 82, of Lewiston died Monday, March 11, 2024, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital of Lewiston. Weedpatch was born October 17, 1941, in Buffalo, the son of the late Allan and Alice (Hayes) Walker. He lived most of his life in Lewiston and was a 1959 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. Weed was a graduate of Colgate University where he received his degrees in Geology and Engineering. As a four-year member of the Glee Club, he had the opportunity to travel the world. Following college, Weed moved to Toronto and established a Paving Business which he ran for 10 years. When he returned to Lewiston, he started Walker Farms and his contracting business, Walker Enterprises, which he has operated for the last 50 years.
He was a member of the 3-F Club and a former member of Moose Lodge 584. Weed loved dancing. As a young man, his mother taught him to ballroom dance and square dance which he continued throughout his life. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to so many people.
Weed is survived by his beloved 40-year companion Barbara J. Peck, her son Delon, and her grandson Delon, III and his wife Genna. Also surviving are his children, Kimberly Hickey (Antonio Kent), Jacqueline (Christopher) King, and Jonathan (Kathleen) Walker; his brothers, Robert (late Theo) Walker and Allan Walker; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday, March 15, from 4 -7 PM. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 16 at Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd., Youngstown, with Rev. Robert Hagel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Gift Processing HQ, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
