Mary A. (nee Keicher) Ewell, 93, formerly of Marilla died Monday, November 29, 2010, at her residence in Cary, North Carolina after a brief illness. Mary was born November 1, 1917 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Caroline C. (Maher) Keicher. She was raised in Lancaster and was a graduate of Lancaster High School. On Septermber 19, 1942 she married Harold H. Ewell at St. Mary of The Assumption RC Church in Lancaster. Harold predeceased her on September 5, 1978.
Mary worked for many years in Larwood's Pharmacy in East Aurora, NY before moving to California in 1976. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Michael) Nelson of Cary, NC, John D. (late Pamela) Ewell of Charlotte, NC, James H. (Chris) Ewell of Clarence, NY and Mary Beth (William) Sinclair of Noblesville, IN; her grandchildren, Shannon (Ewan), Timothy, (Jamie), Sheila (Bryant), Sean (Katie), Catherine (Matthew), Michael (Arielle), Keith and Natalie; her great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Logan, Elijah, and Grant; a brother, Robert "Pat" Keicher of Santa Rosa, CA, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Francis, and William Keicher.
A Mass of Chirstian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 4, at 9:30 am in St. Mary of The Assumption RC Church, 1 St. Mary's Hill, Lancaster, NY. There will be no prior visitation. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, PO Box 237, Buffalo, NY 14231 or to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnatti, OH 45250-0301.
