Obituary of Joan A. Cramer

Joan A. Cramer, devoted mother and grandmother, age 88, of Ransomville, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Joan was born April 27, 1935 in Batavia, NY, the daughter of the late Clayton and Catherine (Hiliker) Garrett. She was raised in Corfu and in the early 1950's she worked in the Nursery at St. Joseph's Hospital in Batavia. In the 1970's Joan worked as a Dishwasher at W. H. Stevenson Elementary School and "kept her eyes" on her children, and later in the 90's she worked at JoAnn Fabric in Lewiston.
She was a member of the Community Bible Church and a former member of the Ransomville Home Bureau. Joan had also volunteered with the Ransomville Brownie Troop. She enjoyed sewing, making baby clothes, curtains, and quilting exquisite keepsake Christmas tree skirts for her beloved children and grandchildren.
Joan had a special fondness for cats, especially Lydia, who accompanied her and Don on their travels and wintering in Florida.
She married Donald L. Cramer on April 28, 1956. He predeceased her on November 6, 2018. Joan is the mother of Pamela S. Eudy and the late Kim Louise Kepp. She was the sister of Clayton (Barbara) Garrett, Judy Gay and the late Donna Wooledge. She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and her cherished friends Gloria (late Walter) Pilarski and Robert and Carol Bohnstadt.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Community Bible Church, 4168 Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Brad Delp officiating. Burial will be private in North Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Bible Church, 4168 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094; Ten Lives Club, 3741 Lakeshore Rd. Blasdell, NY 14219 or to Sherlock Bones Lost 'N Hound Dog Recovery, 3023 Westwood Dr., Grand Island, NY 14072. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY.
