Obituary of David M. McMahon

David M. McMahon 83, of the Town of Tonawanda and formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2024. Loving and cherished companion of Kathleen Couchman, devoted father of Jeffery and Julie, loving gramps to Riley Johanna. Dear brother of Dennis (Susan) and the late Mark. Predeceased by parents Francis and Frances (Farbo) McMahon. David grew up in Lewiston, graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School and Niagara University with a bachelors and masters degree In history. He began his career at Lewiston- Porter teaching history at the Middle School. He along with his good friends and fellow teacher William Geiben sponsored the yearly trip to Washington D.C for the 8th grade students, he was then transferred to the High School where he established and taught A.P American history. David was a grievance chair for the union and a chaperone of the weekly ski club trips to Kissing Bridge. In the early 60’s he was in the NY Army National Guard, he was a past member of the Lewiston- Queenston Rotary Club and a man of the Lewiston Moose, he belonged to the Niagara Frontier American Legion Post 1041, Lederhosen Ski Club and volunteered with Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels. Upon his retirement, he and Kathleen traveled extensively throughout the U.S, Canada and made several trips to Europe, the wintered in Daytona Beach Shores where David enjoyed biking on the beach.
Visitation will be held on FRIDAY from 3-7 PM. at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. 401 Ridge St. (Ridge and N. Fourth) Lewiston, NY 14092.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy RC Church 565 East Park Dr. Tonawanda, NY 14150 on SATURDAY at 10:00 AM. ( Please assemble at church)
