Obituary of Margaret Rodgers

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret L Rodgers of Lewiston, New York, passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 86. Born in Niagara Falls, Margaret was the daughter of Dr. William R and Francis (Ardan) Lewis. Raised in Lewiston, Margaret graduated from Lewiston Porter High School and received a B.A. degree from Northwestern University in English and Psychology in 1959. Margaret met her first husband, Howard Kuiper, at Northwestern and lived in the New Jersey and Connecticut area. She moved back to Lewiston in 1976, where she met and married Edward P. Rodgers, with whom she lived a loving life for 30 years. Margaret & Ed were fond of traveling, whether it was a day trip, a long weekend, trips across the country, or places abroad. They enjoyed music, theater, movies, being in the company of their family and many cherished friends, and of course, watching the Bills. No matter where she was or who she was with, she would always strike up a conversation and sometimes make a new friend. Margaret held several jobs including working for the Special Education Department in the Ridgefield, CT school district, Connecticut State Dept. of Labor, and U.S. Dept. of Labor Statistics. She also worked over 19 years as the Director of Admissions for the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where she continued her affiliation as part of the NFMMC retirees committee. She was a long-time member and officer of the historic Tatler Club, President and past President of the American Association of University of Women, as well as a member of the Monday Book Club and Youngstown Yacht Club. Her family would like to thank all her friends, neighbors, and members of the community who befriended, helped, and supported her over the years she lived in Lewiston. Although she did not have her own family in the area in recent years, she still felt she had a family in all of you. Margaret is survived by her son David Kuiper (wife Sue), daughter Cindy (Kuiper) DiLorenzo (husband Tony), and two grandchildren Jessica Kuiper and Anthony DiLorenzo. She is predeceased by her brother William (Buck) Lewis of Poughkeepsie, NY/ Bradenton, Florida. Visitation hours will be held at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. 401 Ridge St. Lewiston, NY 14092 on SATURDAY Nov. 18th from 11 AM -1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Tatler Inc or the Tatler Historic Preservation Foundation Inc, 6 Fourth Street, Niagara Falls, NY, 14303. Please visit www.hardisonfuneralhomes.com
