Obituary of Jacqueline H. Rodgers

Jacqueline Helen “Jacquie” Rodgers, 79, of Wilson, NY passed away on October 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was cherished as a mother, grandmother, and teacher by family, friends, colleagues, and former students. Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Christiana (Brian) Crowley of Briarcliff Manor, NY, their children Michael, Christian and Lillian; her daughter Kirsten (Scott) Rodgers of Fort Mill, SC and their daughter Colette. She also leaves behind by her brother-in-law Harry (Karen) Grindall of Boothbay Harbor, ME, her beloved nephews Sean, Brian, and Colin, and their families, her cousin Bobby (Cynthia) Price of Hudson, OH, as well as their daughters Robyn, Nancy, and their families. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack (John) Rodgers, her father George Pallage Sr., her mother Irene Pallage, her stepmother Dorothy Pallage, and her brother George Pallage Jr. Jacqueline was born in Akron, Ohio to George and Irene Pallage on March 29, 1944. After graduating from Buchtel High School she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Akron, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Buffalo. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life John “Jack” Rodgers in 1966 and together they had many adventures traveling the world. For 48 years she worked as a Reading Teacher/Reading Specialist for Buffalo Public Schools, Wilson Central School District, and the Royalton-Hartland School District, where she also served as a district-wide administrator for Reading. Throughout the years she served on the board of the Wilson Free Library, as a member of the Gnostic Guild and Delphic Circle and on the Vestry at St. John’s Episcopal where she was a longtime parishioner. Jacqueline was an impactful teacher, avid traveler, and gardener. She loved going to lunch and dinner with her friends, decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas, enjoying a good cup of coffee in a special mug and traveling to visit with her daughters’ families where she spent countless hours reading to her grandchildren, attending their events and forming an everlasting bond. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on October 23, 2023 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 431 Lake St. Wilson, NY 14172. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wilson, NY. Reception to follow at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be held at Hardison Funeral Homes Inc. in Ransomville, NY on Saturday, October 21st from 2-5 pm and Sunday, October 22nd from 2-5 pm.
