Obituary of Louis D. Gardiner Sr.

Louis D. “Sonny” Gardiner, Sr., age 91, of Ransomville died Thursday, September 14th, 2023, at home under the care of his granddaughter Karen Thompson. Sonny was born on November 25th, 1931, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Daniel and the late Elizabeth (MacFarland) Gardiner. Sonny married the late Margaret Coder on November 15th, 1952, she predeceased him on October 15th, 2006.
Sonny was the maintenance supervisor at Niagara Steel retiring in January of 1989 after 49 years. He was a 35 year member of the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. serving in a fire police capacity. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by three sons; Daniel Gardiner of GA, Louis Gardiner Jr. of Pendleton, and Bruce (Cecelia) Gardiner of Ashland, OH; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren
He is predeceased by his children; Deborah Thompson, Jeffery Gardiner, and Violet Ann Gardiner, also his sisters, Violet Daigler, and Helen Schrieber.
A Chapel service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 20th at the Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, 5871 Military Rd, Lewiston, NY, burial to follow.
