Obituary of Samuel John Jowdy

Samuel John Jowdy, age 92, formerly of Lewiston passed away Saturday January 15, 2011 in Walland, Tennessee.
Sam was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Seymour, TN and a long time parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 274 (4th degree), the Holy Name Association, the Cedar Club in Niagara Falls, NY and the Lower Niagara Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #584. Sam retired from the New York Central Railroad after 36 years of service and then worked in Security at Niagara University. He was a life long gardener, story teller, and an avid roller skater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shaheen Jowdy and Saffa Bousamra; brothers, Amel, Drash, George, and Albert Jowdy; sisters, Rasha Maida, and Pauline and Jeanette Jowdy; and a son, Samuel John, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia T. "Rashid" Jowdy; his daughters, Mary (Mike) Whitman, Teresa (Mike) Bilowus, Janice Tipton , and Joyce Jowdy; his grandchildren, Rachelle Whitman, Luke, Marcus, Jesse Bilowus; a sister, Rose Jowdy; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Committal Service on Saturday, January 22, at 10:00 am in Holy Angels Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, with the Rev. Sebastian C. Pierro officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
