Obituary of Katherine Marie Ventry

Katherine Marie Ventry, 58, of Youngstown NY, passed away on May 14, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Kathy was born on March 25th, 1965, to William (late) and Maureen (Suitor) Ventry in Youngstown NY. She is the granddaughter of late William and Florence (DelGatto) Ventry and late Hon. Harry and Katherine (Daw) Suitor. After graduating from Lewiston Porter in 1983, she went on to earn her Associates Degree in Arts from Niagara County Community College and Sir Sanford College in Fashion Merchandising. She then studied Political Science and Paralegal at Buffalo Collage earning her bachelor’s in science. After graduating with her BS, she started her career at the Small Business Associate (SBA) as a Supervisory Disaster Recovery Specialist. She spent her 20 year long career there assisting small businesses and families recover from the financial burdens after a national disaster. She provided disaster support after hurricane Katrina, Andrew, Sandy and many more hurricanes and tropical storms. Most recently she worked on Covid-19 disaster relief. Kathy has a daughter, Carley Ventry. Carley is an avid dancer and Kathy enjoyed her recitals. Carley is also a figure skater Kathy enjoyed watching her skate and cheered her on as she won multiple metals up to a national level. Kathy spent her time reading, playing and earning many trophies in darts, and enjoying time at the family cottage in Canada. Kathy is survived by her daughter Carley Ventry, sister Theresa Ventry, brother Michael and Teresa (Wheeler) Ventry, brother Peter Ventry, and mother Maureen (Suitor) Ventry. Calling hours will be held on Thursday May 18th from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm at Hardison Funeral Homes Inc. 3648 Ransomville Rd. Ransomville, NY 14131. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernards RC Church, Second and Hinman St’s, Youngstown, at 12:30 pm on Friday May 19th. (Please assemble at the Church). Burial to follow at Oakland Rural Cemetery.
