Dear Jeff, Barbara and Adam,
My memories of Holly start around 1965 or so, when she offered me refuge from the big girls who were bullying me (though back then, we just said "being mean"). We spent countless hours in her backyard pool, all of three feet high, walking "up to Lewiston," though we lived in Lewiston and going up the hill meant we were traveling south, and hoping that Barbara would include us in her summer plans.
When Holly turned 10, your mom (Dorothy) took us both to Center Street, to show us how to cross the busy street on our own. (I think she let me tag along, that being easier than sending me home.). Mrs. Webb took us to the golf club and let us "use" the ladies' locker room in return for watching her practice putting -- surprising what made us happy back then.
After dinner many evenings, I would make my way across the street and watch Holly do whatever chore her mom had for her, and ask Mrs. Webb all sorts of questions ("why do you like beer" was one). I was there the first time Holly made a banana bread; she was so careful mashing the extra-ripe bananas.
One of those nights, Holly was complaining to her mom about Mr. Webb over-reacting to a comment at dinner. He had said, "where are the napkins?" Holly responded, "in the kitchen," and that was the end of that! (I guess it was Holly's turn to set the table!)
While we were still in grade school, the Webbs moved to Morgan Farms -- all of 3 miles away -- but I was at St. Peter's and Holly at Lew-Port, and no one rode a bike that far, so we didn't see each other anymore. I remember her mostly as my first BFF.
The last time I saw Holly was in my parents' house on Oxbow Lane, probably in the early 2000's; she was married to Jeff and was so happy. I am so sorry for
your loss.

My memories of Holly range from grade school and Wednesday Club through high school and our Sunday night Youth Fellowship meetings. I recall the fun we had spending time together doing fun things on our youth retreats at Camp Duffield. We walked in the woods together, waded in streams, and even found a slippery clay lined stream bed where we slid through the water on the stream bed on that hot early summer day. I remember all the spaghetti dinner fundraisers we did in the fellowship hall at church. I remember Christmas caroling in Morgan Farms and ending up at her house to have hot chocolate and pizza. Holly was always a ray of sunshine and joy in my life. Though life took us in different directions she will always remain one of the special people in treasured my heart.
