Kathryn S. Waite, age 61 of Youngstown, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at her residence after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Kathryn was born December 10, 1949 in Summit, NJ, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Eastman) Schlichting of Syracuse, NY and was a graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. From 1995 to 2010 Kathryn was the Manager of Shipping and Bindery for Sharp Printing in Sanborn. She enjoyed gardening, camping and the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl J. (Nathan) Bridges of Newfane; her loving companion and partner, Gene Beck of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Emily Claude, Evan and Andrew Bridges; a brother, Peter (Donna) Schlichting of Sterling, MA; a sister, Nancy Ackerman of Syracuse, NY; and a niece and nephew, Nicolette and Devin Schlichting. She was predeceased by a son, Christopher S. Waite. Private services to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
