Obituary of Gordon A. Mawhiney

Gordon A. “Gordie” Mawhiney, age 95, of Wilson died on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Gordie was born on October 12th, 1927, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Avery and the late Hazel (Wade) Mawhiney. Gordie owned and operated Gordon Mawhiney Excavating from 1956 till 1995.
He was a 60-year member of the Wilson Vol Fire Co. #1, also a member of the Wilson Conservation Club Moose Lodge, Oddfellows, Elks Lodge, and Lions Club. He enjoyed dancing, spending time hunting at his camp in Belfast and wintering in Florida, along with spending lots of time with his family.
Surviving are his children; Shelley Andrews and Roger (Francine) Mawhiney; his grandchildren, Chad (Kristen) Andrews, Kyle (Jamie) Andrews, Jenna (Steve) Schanz, , Kristina (Bill) Battaglia, David Mawhiney, Samantha (Jay) McKee and Michael (Joelle) Taylor; 15 great grandchildren and longtime friend Lloyd “Wiener” Murray. Gordie is predeceased by his brother Harry Mawhiney.
Calling hours will be held on THURSDAY from 3-8 PM. at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. 3648 Ransomville, Rd. Ransomville, NY 14131. Funeral services will be held at Exley UMC 338 Lake St. Wilson, NY on FRIDAY at 10:00 AM with Pastor. Shelley Andrews. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery.
