Obituary of Mikael B. Nicklas

It is with unspeakable grief that our family shares the death of Mikael B. Nicklas, age 48, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023. Mikael was born on February 21st, 1975. He is the son of Mark Nicklas and Eva (Jonsson) Nicklas. Mikael was strong, brave, kind and dependable, a world traveler and well known sailor on Lake Ontario. He attributed his love of sailing to his Viking blood and was always more comfortable when he lost sight of land and sailed into unknown waters. He was also known as one of the best tattoo artists in Buffalo and left thousands of masterpieces on the walls of human temples around the world. He shared his Buddhist practice openly and meditated every day. He is now in Valhalla, having courageously navigated the rough seas of life, always smiling and at the helm, with a sense of daring and excitement for what was waiting just beyond the horizon. Mikael was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered as a man whose actions spoke louder than words. He leaves behind his parents, Mark and Eva; his brother, Leif Nicklas (Lola Thornton) and sister, Lena Nicklas (Patty Trevino), Molly Muffoletto, cherished traveling companions, family and friends. We will all miss him and look forward to meeting again… in Valhalla. In lieu of flowers, Mikael would want us to live life to the fullest and to open our hearts to kindness….. and peace.
