Obituary of Virginia A. Roth

Virginia Aileen Roth (Aileen), age 91, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Aileen was born February 3, 1931, to the late Fred and Ethel (Peters) Adelmann of Oak Park, Illinois.
Aileen graduated from Oak Park High School in 1949 and Iowa State University in 1953. She married James G. Roth in September 1953. In 1961 they made their home in Lewiston NY. She worked for Carborundum Co. for 17 years, retiring in 1992.
Aileen loved music and played piano, guitar, and recorder. She played piano accompaniment for Lewiston Porter band members participating in regional solo competitions and later gave piano lessons. She also enjoyed reading and taking photographs of her travels with family and friends. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Society, Ransomville Book Club, and the Buffalo Recorder Society.
Aileen was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston serving as an elder, singing in the choir and playing handbells. Some years later she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and continued to sing in the choir and play bells. She enjoyed researching and writing a column in the church newsletter titled Hymn of the Month.
Aileen is survived by her children, Judith (Fred) LaFleur, Robert (Kathryn) Roth, Sandra (Patrick) Castles, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her sister, Anita Gilderhus.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 22nd at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown 100 Church St. Youngstown, NY. Burial will be at Whitehaven Cemetery, on Grand Island in a private ceremony.
