Where did Ronald like to travel?
A: We did quite a bit of traveling. Pocono Speedway as a somewhat honeymoon; because we had others with us. West End Bahamas with Pete and Barb Baker. Fun time. Hawaii with others from Anchor Motor Freight, then home for 1 night to give Greg a hug and then to Paradise Island Bahamas with friends. On these trips I started to think I might be pregnant. So I tell Pam she has been to Hawaii and the Bahamas. Ron enjoyed the snorkeling in Hawaii and got beautiful pictures of the fish with the underwater camera. These were all in the early 1980’s. In the mid 1990’s we went to Nashville for 10 days. We saw Leanne Rhimes at the Wild Horse Saloon. We went to Vegas where we renewed our wedding vows. We took a couple cruises, thanks to my brother Hal. We visited Cozumel, Key West, Jamaica (twice), Cayman Islands (where we went to a town called Hell), Belize (Ron really liked Belize), Croatia. When the kids were little we took them to Plymouth Rock and Boston, Sesame Street Place, Hershey Park. Ron and I went back to Plymouth and drove up the coast line to Portland Maine. He was in his glory with the lobster and seafood. In 1999 we went with his brother Ed and Debbie to Colorado to visit his sister Carol for her 80th birthday. We went to Glenwood Hot Springs. They smell like rotten eggs but so warm. Then a month later we went to Florida for Lynn’s 50th birthday party. He had gone there for Emily’s graduation before and we had been there a few times. He went to Iowa to his grand daughter, Victoria’s graduation party. We drove to Iowa one year. A long trip. And of course he did a lot of traveling while racing. And being a over the road truck driver, he might not have had time to sightsee but he traveled for 26 years all over the Eastern States.

He really enjoyed his grandchildren. We were just talking about going to Florida to see Aaron and Emily, Lynn’s kids. He wanted to get to know them better. He enjoyed going to the school sports games that Greg’s kids played in, soccer, Lacrosse, football and basketball. Mason, Chase and Cam. Cam even did baseball one year. We only got to go to a couple of Noah and Livie’s soccer games. They are just starting out. He was very proud of Victoria and her outstanding gymnastics performances.

Q: Did Ronald have any pets?
A: We had 2 cocker spaniel’s, one black ( the good one) and a blond one. Trevor and Teddy ( the bad one). I always said Teddy was trained by Ron . He would go across the street and eat the cookies she would put out for the birds. He ended up with diabetes and we had to put him down. We both cried. Teddy was so unique. He howled along with any opera type music. Made it difficult to hear TV when watching the Sopranos , one of Ron’s favorite shows. They have a lot of opera music on it. He loved riding on the 4 wheeler and lawn mower with Ron. He accidentally ran over Trevor. Then we got Frankie. The best dog ever and we both enjoyed him so much. He misses his daddy. I can’t say the word or Frankie starts looking out the window for daddy. Ron couldn’t even get his coat off and Frankie was going crazy waiting for belly rubs and hi’s when Ron came home. I can see the sadness in Frankie.

No fancy urn for you, one that fits you perfect. What you loved doing most, racing. Surrounded by colorful flowers with the birds you loved watching out our picture window and what you were most noted for, your suspenders.

Us at the Ransomville Speedway banquet 2022. A family breakfast when Lynn was home. When you tried plowing the snow with your 4 wheeler, don’t know what you were thinking. You fell in the snow and the neighbor used the bucket to lift you out. Lol

I have fond memories of being around Ron while waiting for the late bus home for school. He seemed so much older, sophisticated and worldly like Fonzie but he was always very kind and friendly. He always made it a point to talk to us younger admirers. Joe R

Q: Describe where Ronald worked and what they did
A: You worked at Hooker when I met you, 1973. But they didn’t appreciate your little naps. You enjoyed farming and went to work for Red Baker farms. Then you worked at Wizard Methods. You climbed in tankards and cleaned them and the chemicals smell on your clothes when you came home. When you were sleeping I could smell the chemicals on your breath. Then you became a Teamster Local 449. Anchor Motor Freight, aka Penske Motors, aka Leaseway Motor Carrier. You drove those 18 wheelers and hauled cars long distances. 26 years.

I worked with Ron at Anchor Motor Freight for years! He was always good to me! He would give me a hard time sometimes, but there was always a smile behind his comments! He will be missed. I am so sorry I was unable to attend the service. My sympathies to the entire family.
