Obituary of Lou F. Mathews

Please share a memory of Lou to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lou F. Mathews (Nov. 27, 1939-Dec. 25, 2022) of Youngstown, New York passed away peacefully on Christmas Day. He was 83 years old. Lou spent his career teaching math at Lewiston-Porter Middle School. During his tenure at Lew-Port, he was a coach for the cross country and track teams and served as the videographer for basketball and football. In his final weeks, he enjoyed reminiscing about his teenage years as a lifeguard, trips to Bills games with family, and visits to the lake. Lou is survived by his wife Jan, children Kim Harkins, Chris (Dawn), Heather, and Shawn (Amanda) as well as his brother Keith (Lynne), sister Mary Brown (Bob), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to the 1 West aids, nurses, doctors, and social workers at Our Lady of Peace who took care of Lou like he was their grandpa and provided support for Jan throughout his stay there. A private ceremony will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers or food, please send donations to Roswell Park https://www.roswellpark.org/giving/donate/honor-memorial-gifts or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/.
