Obituary of Harriet Jean Price

Harriet Jean "Nan" Price, age 91 of Lake Rd., Youngstown, died Saturday January 8, 2011 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
Mrs. Price was born on October 26, 1919 in Trafalgar Township, Ontario, Canada, the last surviving child of the late George King and Jessie (Caverhill) King, having been predeceased by her brothers, Howard, Donald, and Gordon and sister Mary Cleghorn. She married Melvin W. Price (died 3/24/2002) on November 1, 1941 at Knox 16 Presbyterian Church, Oakville, Canada. They resided in Lewiston and Youngstown from that time forward, raising two children, Bill and Betty.
Jean was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, where she served as an elder and deacon. She also devoted countless hours in support of functions held at the adjacent Fellowship Hall. Jean was a volunteer with Girl Scouts for many years along with the American Red Cross and Mt. St. Mary's Hospital where she recently received recognition for 40 years of service.
Jean is survived by her son, Bill (late Barb) Price and daughter, Betty (Terry) Cummings both of Youngstown. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Thomas (Katie), Jeffrey, Susan (Danni), Jonathan (Michelle), Michael (Carol), James and Ryan (Alison) and 9 great grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Cameryn, Lexa, Madison, Nicole, Ronan and Rhys.
Jean leaves her family and friends with wonderful memories of picnics on the beach, great holiday gatherings, some of the best pies and baked goods ever, and a smiling, tireless woman who would do anything for them.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 22, at 11:00 am the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rv. Rex Stewart officiating.There will be no prior visitation. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown in her honor. Jean also requested that donations of blood be made to the American Red Cross in her name. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY.
