Walter G. Greig passed away on September 17, 2022 in Summerville, SC at the age of 85. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 28, 1936, he was the son of William S. Greig and Gertrude G. Greig. He attended Niagara Falls High School and graduated from Purdue University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Mr. Greig worked for Moore Business Forms at the Highland Avenue plant in Niagara Falls and the Moore Corporation Research Division on Grand Island for over 34 years. He retired on July 1, 1994.
Mr. Greig was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lewiston, NY and a lifelong member of the Fin, Feather and Fur (3F) Conservation Society in Lewiston, NY, where he served on the Board of Directors, the Skeet Committee and as chair of the Pheasant Program. He also served for many years as an official National Skeet Shooting Association referee. Mr. Greig was a Mason and a Shriner, and a member of the Niagara Frontier Lodge No.132 F&AM, the Valley of Buffalo Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Lockport Shrine Club. He enjoyed vacations and extensive traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an accomplished skeet shooter (100 Straight Club) and avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting with his much-loved Labrador retrievers.
Mr. Greig is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Donna Widmann Greig of Summerville, SC; his daughter, Dr. Kelly G. Ten Hagen (John) of Boyds, MD; his son, Dr. Thomas W. Greig (Robin) of Charleston, SC; and grandchildren, Katherine and Jennifer Ten Hagen, and Emma and Ian Greig. He was predeceased by his grandson Thomas Ten Hagen.
Private funeral services are being arranged by Hardison Funeral Home, Lewiston, NY. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his wonderful life at the 3F Club, 904 Swann Road, Lewiston, NY on Saturday, October 1 from 7-9 pm.
