James P. Schoonmaker, age 81, of Lewiston and husband of Sally Schoonmaker (nee Cratt) died Monday, September 5th, 2022, at home in Lewiston. James was born February 18th, 1941, in Dunkirk, NY. He is the son of the late Lawrence P. and the late Emily (Duncan) Schoonmaker. He graduated from Lew-Port class of 1958. He married Sally on February 20, 1982. He was employed lastly by Detroit Edison as a reactive metal consultant for 10 years and had previously retired from E.I Dupont as the area manager after 30 years and also was a driller for the engineers at the NYS Power Project. Jim was a Charter Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 584 Lewiston, also a member of the 3 F Club and an exempt member of the Lewiston # 1 Fire Co. where he served as past 1st Asst. Chief. He is survived by his wife Sally; children, Mark (Sonda) Schoonmaker, Susan (William) Bigham, Michael (Robbin) Schoonmaker, Lynn (Dale) Engelhart, Lee (Danny) Nassoiy and Lisa (Robert) Landers, also 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Per request James will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM. on MONDAY Sept.19th at the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, NY. Burial will take place in Dickersonville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Lewiston # 1 Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund. Arrangements entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC.
