Obituary of Clemens O. Gaul

Clemens O. Gaul, 81, of North Fort Myers, FL, and formerly of Lockport, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on March 14, 1929 in Lockport to the late Clemens O. and Emily (Bisbee) Gaul and was a graduate of Lockport High School in 1947. He then graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, NY, in 1951. He owned and operated Gaul Funeral Home in Lockport until retiring in 1990 and moved to Florida. Clem was a NYS Licensed Funeral Director for 50 years. On November 15, 1969, he married Mary Ann (Golden) and together they enjoyed boating, RVing and vacationing in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Clem was a former member of the New York State Funeral Directors Assoc., the Erie-Niagara Funeral Directors Assoc., the Ale & Quail Club, Lockport Lions Club, Tuscarora Yacht Club, and he also served in the Army National Guard and the Niagara County Sheriff's Marine Patrol Division for many years. In addition to his wife, Clem is survived by two daughters, Debra (James) Whitaker of Forest Hills, CA, Sheree (Harry) Stewart of Yucaipa, CA; three sons, Christopher (Ruth) Gaul of Elma, NY, Mark D. (Yvonne) Palmerton of Getzville, NY, and Clemens A. (Heather) Gaul of Draper, UT. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John (Dorothy) Schwartz. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Interment will be private in St. Charles Cemetery, Newfane. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, Ransomville, NY.
