Obituary of William L. Brumfield Jr.

Lt. Col. William L. Brumfield, Jr., age 76, of Sanborn and husband of Jeanette Smith Brumfield (Nee Woods) passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at home. Bill was born on October 15, 1945, in Gowanda, NY. He is the son of the late William L. and the late Charlotte (Mentley) Brumfield Sr. William graduated from Gowanda State Hospital School of Nursing and E.J. Meyer Memorial School for Nurse Anesthetist. He retired in 2007 after 35 years as a Nurse Anesthetist. He was also a proud member of the U.S. Army Reserve, Army Nurse Corps from 1979 to 2005 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served during Desert Storm and was awarded many medals and appearances. He was the father to three daughters with his first wife, Nancy Lee Howard: Nanette (Rick) Hadley, Michelle (Carl) Lee, and Jennifer Brumfield. He was step father to four children with his second wife, Jeanette Woods Smith: Peter Smith, Rebecca (Richard) Bean, David Smith and Rochelle (James) Bohm. He was a proud Grandpa to 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and brother to Sandra Brumfield. He is predeceased by his daughter Nanette Hadley and his step-son David Smith and brother Bruce Brumfield Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 25th from 4-7 PM. at Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY 14131. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, May 26th at Niagara Frontier Bible Church, 5287 Bronson Dr., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Thomas Broderick officiating. A graveside service and burial with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on May 27th, 2022, at Dewittville Cemetery Dewittville, NY.
