Robert C. "Bob" Stevens, Jr., age 98, of Lewiston died Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport after a brief illness. Bob was born February 23, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of the late Robert C. Sr. and Stella (Armijo) Stevens and lived in Lewiston most of his life. He was a graduate of the Lewiston Red Brick School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Niagara University. Bob was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II and an U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. While serving in the Army from 1942 to 1945, he was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal, The WW II Victory Medal, and the European-African Campaign Medal.
Bob was President and Owner of Stevens Insurance Agency in Lewiston for many years retiring in 1993. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of The Messiah in Lewiston as well as a member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club. Bob was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Niagara Falls, V.F.W. Kenmore Post # 2472, and the Ransomville Masonic Lodge 551 F&AM. Besides being an avid golfer, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing trips and dancing.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Nelda (Howard) Stevens on August 2, 1987. He is survived by two sons: Michael (Anne) Stevens and Kevin (Robin) Stevens; a brother, David Stevens; his grandchildren, Joseph, Brian, James, Elizabeth, Daniel, Patrick, and Robert Stevens. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Stevens and a sister, Virginia Quirk.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Monday May 16, at 1:30 pm at Niagara Falls Memorial Park, 5871 Military Rd., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 56 708 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
