Kenneth J. “Peanut” Kenney, age 81, of Lewiston, husband of Nancy Skwarzynski Kenney died Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Schoellkopf Nursing in Niagara Falls, NY. Kenneth was born on March 27, 1940, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Clossie and the late Louise (Piche) Kenney. Peanut graduated from Lew-Port class of 1957 and went on to Montana State. He served in the United State Air Force from 1957-1961. He married Nancy Skwarzynski on July 18, 1986.
He was employed by Quermback Electric and Anderson Electric as an outside salesman for 25 years. Peanut served on the Lewiston Village Board for 15 years and also worked for the Town of Lewiston as the Building Inspector. He was a member of St. Peter’s RC Church, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Kiwanis Club of Lewiston and was associated with Heart and Soul. Peanut refereed basketball and football at Lew-Port and with the Niagara Frontier League for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy (Skwarzynski) Kenney; children, Mary Ellen (Michael) Swanson, Beth (Derek) Myszka, Sharon (Mark) Velky Placek and Mary Sue Velky; a sister, Ruth Anne (John) Pokrzyk; 7 grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Hailey Swanson, Tyler and Brandon Myszka and Elaina and Danielle Velky; 3 great grandchildren, Gino and Maya Zarcone and Joey Destino. Peanut is predeceased by his siblings, Allen Kenney, June Jarvis, Joyce Cooper, Dorothy Ingram, and John Kenney.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 10th from 3-6 PM at Hardison Funeral Home, 401 Ridge St. (N. Fourth & Ridge Streets), Lewiston, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 11th at St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Cole Webster officiating. Burial will be in Dickersonville Cemetery at a later date.
