Obituary of John D. High

John D. High, age 91, of the Town of Wilson died Monday, January 10, 2022, at Eastern Niagara Hospital Lockport. John was born on March 3, 1930, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Thomas and the late Ellen J. (Boniface) High. John was a 1948 graduate of Trott Vocational H.S He married Mildred Garrow on April 28, 1951, she predeceased him on September 4th, 2021. John served in the United State Army from 1951 to 1953, he was employed by Town and Village of Wilson as the Building Inspector for 16 years and had previously worked for Courier Express until its closing in 1982. He started growing grapes in 1976 and enjoyed making his home-made wine, one of his biggest enjoyments was watching the great lakes ships on Lake Ontario pass by his property on W. Lake Rd. John and Mildred were both long time members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wilson. Surviving are his children; Kevin High (Bobbie Jo Harris), Thomas (Janice) High and Janet (Robert) Welch; his sister Barbara Maggio; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Lewiston, NY.
