Joyce M. Lisman of Ransomville passed away October 28th at Northgate Healthcare facility after a long illness. Joyce was born to Lawrence & Violet (Raff) Martin on August 26, 1936, in Lockport, NY She grew up in the Lewiston/Youngstown area and graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1954. Later that year she married Thomas Lisman and the couple settled in Ransomville where they raised three children, David, Karen and Richard. Their marriage ended with the untimely death of Tom in 1984. Over the years Joyce had a wide array of jobs. The started as a waitress at Hardings Restaurant while in high school. After marriage, she worked in a clerical position for Carborundum in Niagara Falls. In the late 1960’s, she took another clerical position at Ransomville General Hospital. After a few years, a position opened with Unicure Hair and Skin Products in Youngstown as the office manager. Unicure moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the mid 1970’s so Joyce took her skills to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She started in the Human Resources department and advanced to department manager where she retired from in 1998. Over the years Joyce was very active with the Ransomville Fire Co. Auxiliary holding various positions through the years. Later in life she got heavily involved with the Ransomville Historical Society and volunteered at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She loved spending time with her personal computer, which challenged her mind and kept her busy. She delighted in sharing her expertise with family and friends. She most enjoyed continuing family traditions in her home hosting many family functions at Christmas and Fourth of July, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She treated the and the family on annual summer vacations creating unforgettable memories. She is survived by children David (Mary Jane) Lisman of Ransomville, Karen (Donald) Singleton of Woodbury, Mn, Richard (Joelle) Lisman of Tonawanda, grandchildren Thomas J. Lisman, Andrea Singleton, Erynn Singleton, Michael Lisman and Nicholas Lisman. Also siblings Carol Greene of Wheat Ridge Co., Ronald (Susan) Martin of Youngstown, Edward (Deborah) Martin of Ransomville and Sheryl (Clifford) Simmons of Youngstown. She is predeceased by husband Thomas and grandson James Lisman. Calling hours at Hardison Funeral Home in Ransomville Monday November 1st from 5 PM to 8 PM. A private burial service will be held by the family. Tribute donations to the Ransomville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville NY 14131 or The Alzheimer's Association, Western New York, 6215 Sheridan Dr., Williamsville NY 14221 in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
